On August 9th, the Surfrider Foundation celebrated the One Ocean Gala 2025 in Montauk. Ocean advocates, cultural icons, and community leaders gat hered at The Crow’s Nest for an unforgettable evening dedicated to preserving the East End’s coastal beauty.
Guests enjoyed sunset views over Lake Montauk, DJ sets from Chris Gentile (Pilgrim Surf + Supply) and Andrew VanWyngarden (MGMT), a raw bar, farm-to-table hors d’oeuvres from The Crow’s Nest, and delicious craft cocktails.
This year, Surfrider honored Taylor and Liev Schreiber for their unwavering commitment to protecting the ocean. Longtime supporters and passionate conservation advocates, the Schreibers continue to inspire others to understand the importance of protecting our waters and lead by example for future generations.
“I was blown away by everything Surfrider is doing to protect and conserve our ocean and coastlines,” said Taylor Schreiber. “I knew I wanted to be involved. I am on the board of my family’s foundation, The Ludwick Family Foundation – and, each year, we give grants to organizations that are making the world a better place. Surfrider is doing exactly that, and our foundation has been honored to play a small part.”
The gala brought together a guest list that reflected both the East End’s deep community spirit and its cultural reach. Guests included Martha Hunt and Jason McDonald, Olivia Duncan, Kate Nauta and Rob McKinley, Cameron Bishop, Kyle Rosko, Cristina Lehr, Corey and Kristin Senese, Negar Mohammadi, Alexandra Tabas, Matthew Green, Dianne Vavra, Justin Bartha, Claudia Lebenthal, and Chris Molnar.
Supporting the evening’s success was a notable host committee featuring Julianne Moore and Bart Freundlich, Cynthia Rowley, Rufus Wainwright, Selby Drummond and Steven Dubb, Greg Long, Jayma Cardoso, Rachelle and Sean MacPherson, Christina and Howard Blaustein, and Shelby Meade—all lending their voices and influence to Surfrider’s mission.
This year’s One Ocean Gala raised $600,000, with proceeds going directly to Surfrider’s mission of protecting our natural coastal ecosystem on the East End and beyond. The funds support water quality monitoring, climate resilience projects, plastic pollution reduction, and year-round coastal stewardship efforts
With a vibrant community of advocates, the evening at The Crow’s Nest underscored Surfrider’s vision: a future where ocean protection, beach culture, and coastal beauty thrive together for generations to come.
