The facade of Le Royal Monceau Raffles Paris in the eighth arrondissement

Located on a quiet street in the eighth arrondissement, a short walk from the Arc de Triomphe and the Champs-Élysées, Le Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris has long been a magnet for artists, musicians, actors, and cultural figures. Since opening in 1928, guests have included Walt Disney, General Eisenhower, Madonna, and Ray Charles, who lends his name to one of the suites.

When Raffles took over management of the property in 2007, designer Philippe Starck was brought in to reimagine the interiors. The prominent designer filled the five star property with contemporary art, mirrored surfaces, and imaginative installations. Examples include a dazzling grand staircase illuminated by over ten Baccarat crystal chandeliers reflected endlessly in the mirrored walls, as well as, a surprising collection of life-size wooden moose congregating at the bottom of a stairway.

More than 300 works of art appear throughout the hotel. There is a contemporary gallery, an art bookstore stocked with hundreds of titles including beautiful coffee table books by Assouline, a private cinema, and an Art Concierge dedicated to giving guests recommendations on Paris’s cultural scene.

Even the floral arrangements in the lobby feel like works of art. Towering branches rise from vases overflowing with beautiful hydrangeas, snapdragons, and seasonal blooms.

The 149 rooms and suites blend 1950s glamour with modern design. The visually jaw dropping bathrooms are among Starck’s most famous aspects of the hotel. The space is decorated entirely in mirrored walls and polished steel making you feel as if you are stepping into a disco ball — and you are the star of the show.

The hotel is home to two world-famous restaurants. Il Carpaccio, which retained its Michelin star in 2026 and was named the second-best Italian restaurant in the world by 50 Top Italy, is led by chefs Oliver Piras and Alessandra Del Favero. The culinary destination’s decadent desserts are prepared by Yazid Ichemrahen and Alexandre Favre.

At Matsuhisa Paris, chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s Michelin-starred restaurant brings his signature Japanese cuisine to the heart of Paris. The room attracts both hotel guests and Parisians who come for Nobu’s mixture of Japanese technique and Peruvian influences.

Then, there is Le Bar Long, Philippe Starck’s interpretation of a hotel bar. Long communal tables, red lighting, and mirrored surfaces create one of the hotel’s liveliest rooms. It is a delightful place to enjoy an afternoon glass of champagne or cocktails in the evening.

The breakfast buffet at La Cuisine is one of the most impressive in Paris. Long counters are lined with a bounty of croissants, pain au chocolat, vanilla cruffins, hazelnut brioche, fresh fruit, smoked salmon, bagels, and house-made pastries. Eggs and other hot dishes are prepared to order.
