In honor of the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, a distinguished assembly of NFL, MLB, LPGA, PGA, and NHL athletes converged at Sebonack Golf Club in Southampton for the inaugural Golf Classic Fundraiser hosted by the First Responders Children’s Foundation. The event was held to pay tribute to local first responders and commemorate their invaluable service.
The athlete lineup included NFL stars Victor Cruz, Ahmad Rashad, Jermaine Kearse, Brice Butler, Eric Ebron, and Andre Roberts; MLB luminaries Dave Valle, Tino Martinez, and John Franco; LPGA players Marina Alex, Megan Grehan, Alison Walshe, and Marie Hanson; NHL figures Darren Pang, Matt Martin, Jocelyn Kocur, Kevin Shattenkirk, Josh Bailey, and Jake Allen; and PGA professionals John Mallinger, Will Mackenzie, Steve Marino, and James Driscoll. Their participation underscored the event’s significance and their support for the First Responders Children’s Foundation, a national organization dedicated to aiding the children of U.S. first responders, including firefighters, police officers, paramedics, EMTs, corrections officers, and 911 dispatchers.
First responder leaders from the New York State Police, Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, NYPD, FDNY, and Southampton Town and Fire Departments attended, joining in a heartfelt day of appreciation for first responders and their families.
This memorable event was made possible by the generous support of PLTgolf and the commitment of these professional athletes. The funds raised will provide essential educational scholarships, mental health counseling, and financial support to the children of fallen and disabled first responders, ensuring their legacy is honored and their lives are positively impacted.
