On Thursday, August 7th, the East Hampton Historical Society hosted its 9th Annual Summer Design Luncheon at the storied Maidstone Club, drawing a crowd of design lovers, preservation advocates, and longtime supporters. This year’s featured guest, acclaimed interior designer Marshall Watson, took guests inside the world of his newest book, Designing Elegance, offering a glimpse into the artistry and precision that define his work.

Over a leisurely lunch with sweeping ocean views, Watson spoke about how his design principles adapt to different geographies and climates.  From a light and airy seaside home in East Hampton or a modern renovation of a barn in Napa Valley, Marshall detailed how he translates each owner’s lifestyle, the house’s history, and the setting into a highly original form of elegance.

The afternoon was made possible in part by the generous support of Doyle Auctioneers and Appraisers, whose longstanding commitment to the arts and preservation continues to enrich the East Hampton community.

Founded in 1921, the East Hampton Historical Society preserves and interprets six historic properties, curates exhibitions, and hosts programs that connect the past to the present. The Summer Design Luncheon has become one of its signature events filled with inspiration, conversation, and community.
