On Tuesday, July 22, Kirk Beach Park in Montauk will transform into a high-energy arena for the inaugural Hampton Volley — a charity beach volleyball tournament founded by 3X Olympic Gold Medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings. Blending the athleticism of elite volleyball with the laid-back luxury of the Hamptons, the all-day invitational runs from 12 to 8 p.m. and is open to the public for spectating.
Hosted in partnership with CONTRA, the tournament marks Walsh Jennings’ first East Coast event of its kind, bringing together eight powerhouse teams composed of pr
ofessional athletes, standout amateurs, and East End lifeguards. This fresh mix of talent promises an exciting, unpredictable competition — all for a good cause.
Proceeds from the event will benefit two organizations close to the volleyball legend’s heart: the Hampton Lifeguard Association, which supports vital water safety programs, and p1440 Foundation, a nonprofit founded by Walsh Jennings to empower young athletes through beach volleyball.
The star-studded lineup includes Olympic and AVP champions such as Phil Dalhausser, Taylor Sander, and Brooke Nuneviller, alongside rising stars and hometown talent. The day will be elevated by activations and giveaways from partners like Montauk Brewing Company, Hammitt Bags, ZenWTR, Upper Deck, and Spiritual Gangster. Hero Beach Club will serve as home base for VIPs, with curated bites, drinks, and wellness experiences.
“I am incredibly thrilled to bring Hampton Volley to life and unite such an amazing group of individuals for this inaugural tournament,” said Kerri Walsh Jennings. “Partnering and rallying behind the Hampton Lifeguard Association and p1440 embodies everything I believe in – the power of sport, community, and giving back. This event will bring together neighbors and friends with incredible competition, joy, and a significant positive impact for these vital organizations.”
“We couldn’t be more honored to be a beneficiary of Hampton Volley,” said John Ryan Jr., president of Hampton Lifeguard Association and Chief Lifeguard of Town of East Hampton. “This event is a fantastic way to bring together the community around the love of sport while enjoying our beaches. The funds raised will directly benefit our lifeguards and educational initiatives, making the water safer for all visitors.”
The festivities kick off a day early, on July 21, with a youth clinic led by Walsh Jennings for aspiring athletes aged 11–18. The experience, called Way of the Athlete, offers hands-on coaching with the Olympic icon, focusing on both physical skill and personal empowerment.
With its elite talent, charitable mission, and iconic Montauk backdrop, Hampton Volley is poised to become a new East End summer tradition.
