One of Summer 2019’s most popular openings, Coche Comedor quickly established itself as a Hamptons favorite. Brought to you by the amazing team behind Nick & Toni’s, La Fondita, Townline BBQ, Rowdy Hall, and Honest Catering, executive chef Joseph Realmuto’s menu features regional Mexican cuisine while highlighting local products.

We especially loved the Seafood Cocktail (clams, shrimp, calamari, octopus, cocktail sauce), the Queso Fundido (melted cheese, house-made chorizo, roasted green chili peppers, corn nuts, served with hand-pressed tortillas), and the sensational Pork Barbacoa. Other excellent popular dishes include the amazingly tender Pork Rib Carnitas cooked in orange and cumin, the wood-grilled Skirt Steak served with a cherry wine sauce over a bed of poblano peppers, the Chicken Adobe with your choice of sauce, the Chino Latino Duck Fried Rice, and the Sweet Plantains. The bar offers a large selection of tequilas and mezcals with an emphasis on margaritas—served on the rocks or frozen.

Cass Calder Smith Architecture, the design team behind Nick & Toni’s and Townline BBQ, reimagined the space once known as the Honest Diner, while preserving some of the diner’s classic details. A graffiti artist from Brooklyn (known as Host18) was commissioned to paint an interior wall mural and seven different local artists designed custom table tops to add new life to the space and keep things local and handmade. Coche Comedor is located at 74 A Montauk Highway in Amagansett, adjacent to La Fondita, which remains a taqueria.
