Well, it’s finally time to trade in tanks for sweatshirts, sandals for boots, and iced teas for hot chocolate. We don’t know how it happened, but yes, the fall season is upon us. Although this means waving goodbye to sun-kissed tans and beachside oysters, say a warm hello to everything pumpkin spice, gorgeous foliage, and, of course, the aroma of freshly made baked-goods. See below for where to embrace the crisper weather because ‘tis the season to bundle up with a good book, steaming hot beverage, and favorite autumn treat!

BUONGIORNO BAKERY

Say “buongiorno” to one of our favorite bakeries in Long Island. If the sound of an Italian bakery and espresso bar doesn’t entice you enough, their Nutella croissants and custard-filled Bomboloni are reason alone to leave the house, even on the chilliest of days.

GRINDSTONE COFFEE & DONUTS

With seasonal specials from Maple Lattes to Pumpkin Spice Lattes, made with real pumpkin puree, how could you resist snagging a spot at this Sag Harbor cafe? And, that’s not even mentioning their namesake specialty!  Apple Cider donut anyone? Count us in.

SAGTOWN COFFEE

When it comes down to it, Sagtown Coffee is an all-year Hampton’s staple that could not be left off of this list. Come here when you are reminiscing about summer smoothies and have finally had a pumpkin spice overload, if that is even possible. Plus, who says you can’t combine the best of both worlds by adding a seasonal twist to your order? Sip on a hot chocolate as you dig into your chia seed and collagen filled açaí bowl.

L&W MARKET

L&W Market may be one of the most seasonal spots this Fall. I mean, with pastries baked daily, they all but cater their menu to the changing weather. Snag a window seat to admire the foliage, order whatever seasonal muffin or poptart is on the daily menu, or maybe just go with a classic coffee crumb cake, and enjoy!

KRIEG’S BAKERY

Although this place isn’t a “sit-down and stay a while” kind of bakery, with a whole menu of customer’s seasonal fall favorites, we couldn’t leave it off this list. From Chocolate Apple Danish Rings to Apple Fritters to any flavor pie you could possibly dream of, Krieg’s is here to satisfy all your seasonal cravings and make these darker mornings a little brighter, or at least give you something worth dragging yourself out of bed for.

STARS CAF´E

Open 364 days a year for the last 15 years, I think it’s safe to say this place is a classic, and for good reason. Husband and wife duo, Pepe Martinez and Lydia Martinez Majdišová, make you feel right at home at this cozy cafe. So grab a seat, order some seasonal waffles or french toast, and get welcome to the family!

CARISSA’S THE BAKERY

Carissa’s may have started with the idea of baking simple, good bread, but it has fully evolved to become a go-to community hotspot.  All of their dishes are made to “honor the season,” making autumn our favorite time to visit.  I recommend trading in your weekend bagel for their sesame croissant or enjoying an afternoon bowl of their butternut squash and chickpea soup. This place has it all.

HAMPTON COFFEE COMPANY

With multiple locations all over the Hamptons and as Long Island’s largest independent coffee roaster, it’s hard to find an excuse not to visit Hampton Coffee Company.  Pick a location to cozy up in and order yourself a chai latte or “real” hot chocolate to go with a whopping stack of blueberry pancakes. Or, for those of us on the-go, stop in and grab a bag of their seasonal Pumpkin Pie Coffee so you can sip on fall flavors all week long!

Last, but certainly not least, here is a spot as classic as the cookie itself:  Tate’s Bake Shop. If you never made it to Tate’s over the summer, do yourself a favor and go this autumn season. We can’t get enough of their Pumpkin Spice Buttercream Cupcakes!
