“Love All Tennis is a love letter to the Hamptons as much as it is to tennis itself.” — Kate Davis
Kate Davis grew up with summers on the courts of East Hampton, immersed in a tennis culture defined by clay courts, linen skirts, and afternoons that stretched from matches to garden lunches. Years later, with a Harvard Business School degree and a life rooted in the South Fork’s tennis-centric culture, she noticed a gap: Where was the brand that captured the charm of old-school style paired with modern performance fabrics?
That realization sparked the creation of Love All Tennis — a performance-meets-prep label designed to move effortlessly from court to café. Proudly made in the USA and fueled by a mission of inclusivity and community, Davis’s debut collection blends SPF fabrics and flattering silhouettes with a nostalgic twist. Ahead of her August trunk show in East Hampton, we connected with the founder to talk tennis, tradition, and the power of a well-pleated skirt.
What inspired you to start Love All Tennis?
KATE DAVIS: I grew up spending summers in Seal Harbor, Maine, playing tennis in hand-me-down whites at the Harbor Club under the watchful eye of Mr. G, our beloved pro. There was something magical about those old-school looks: the ric-rac trims, double stripes, and clean white skirts. As an adult, I found myself searching for that same charm, something nostalgic but functional, flattering but fun. I realized there wasn’t a brand out there that felt like it celebrated both the tradition and the evolution of the game. That’s when the idea for Love All Tennis was born.
How did your background at Harvard Business School and your longtime East Hampton residency shape your approach to launching the brand?
DAVIS: At HBS, I learned how to think about brand storytelling, market gaps, and building a business that aligns with your values. Living in East Hampton, where tennis is as much a lifestyle as it is a sport, gave me a front-row seat to the culture of court-meets-lifestyle dressing. Love All Tennis reflects both worlds: a thoughtful, intentional business design and an authentic connection to the place and people who live and breathe tennis.
The collection is meant to go from court-to-café. Why was versatility so important to you when designing the pieces?
DAVIS: As a working mom and active tennis player, I needed clothes that worked harder for me. I wanted to play a match, grab a coffee, run errands, and maybe even hit a school meeting, all without changing outfits. I knew I couldn’t be the only one. Versatility was about giving women permission to look great, feel comfortable, and move through their day with ease, without sacrificing style.
Your collection marries retro charm with cutting-edge SPF fabric. How did you balance fashion and function in your design process?
DAVIS: It was important to me that our pieces weren’t just cute, they had to perform. We use SPF 50+ moisture-wicking fabrics with four-way stretch, but the silhouettes are all about that vintage flair: piped trim, sweet pleats, flirty skirts. The challenge, and the joy, was marrying old-school charm with modern innovation, so you get a timeless look with today’s performance.
You emphasize inclusivity and comfort for all body types. How did that influence the fit and silhouette choices in the collection?
DAVIS: We design with the philosophy that tennis fits everyone, and so should our clothes. Every piece goes through multiple rounds of fit testing on different body types, and we intentionally avoid one-size-fits-all cuts. Some of our dresses have built-in shorts and bras, and some do not because women feel very strongly one way or the other about attached shorts and shelf bras! Some of our skirts have wide waistbands, and some don’t for that reason. All of our tops flatter without clinging. We want everyone to feel confident, comfortable, and beautiful on and off the court.
Love All Tennis is proudly made in the USA. Why was domestic production a priority for you?
DAVIS: Making our clothing in the USA allows us to work closely with manufacturers who align with our values and standards. It’s about quality, but also accountability and community. We’re proud to support local artisans in New York City and keep our production ethically transparent. Plus, being hands-on in the process means we can ensure that every detail meets our expectations.
Giving back is at the heart of your mission, and you donate to New York Junior Tennis & Learning every month. Why was that partnership meaningful to you?
DAVIS: NYJTL’s mission of bringing tennis and education to underserved youth resonated with me. Tennis gave me so much in terms of confidence and friendships, and fitness, and I believe access to the sport should be a right, not a privilege. Partnering with NYJTL allows us to contribute to something bigger than the brand: helping the next generation discover the power of the game.
The Hamptons have such a vibrant tennis culture. How has living in East Hampton influenced your aesthetic and vision for the brand?
DAVIS: I’ve lived in East Hampton since I was about 8 years old, when my parents bought a small home around the corner from Lily Pond Lane. Most Sundays, we would go to a wonderful home of their dear friends, where the wife was French and would cook an amazing lunch for us all. Often, we would linger and play tennis on their court, right next to her garden where she grew rhubarb, leeks, and lots of flowers. My children are now friends in East Hampton with this woman’s great-grandchildren — how small a world is that! That’s how I remember falling in love with tennis in East Hampton. There’s an effortless old-school elegance to tennis in the Hamptons, like a clay court next to a garden of rhubarb. That’s why our brand embodies old-school charm meets modern luxury. It’s where linen skirts meet SPF visors and the court becomes a social hub. That laid-back glamour and the generational tradition of the sport here have influenced our aesthetic. Love All Tennis is a love letter to the Hamptons as much as it is to tennis itself.
You’ve got a trunk show in East Hampton this August. What can guests expect?
DAVIS: We’re so excited for this one! Guests can expect exclusive pieces, sneak peeks of upcoming styles, and the full Love All experience: try-ons, gifts with purchase, and maybe even a little pink lemonade. It’s a celebration of tennis, summer, and style, and we can’t wait to meet our community in person.
What’s next for Love All Tennis? Are there new styles, categories, or collaborations we can look forward to?
DAVIS: Absolutely. We’re expanding into swim and pickleball this year, and we’ve got some fun collaborations in the works that merge fashion with function in surprising ways. We’re also looking at club partnerships and larger retail launches. The goal is to keep growing, but always with the same spirit: inclusivity, nostalgia, and the love of the game.
